Refractory materials are indispensable lining materials in kilns, and high-alumina bricks are one of them. Its role and market recognition are unquestionable. Almost all furnaces need to use high-alumina bricks.

What are high-alumina bricks?

When it comes to high-alumina bricks, we have to mention their unique chemical composition. High-alumina bricks, as the name suggests, have a significant content of alumina (Al₂O₃), exceeding 48%, becoming one of its main components. On this basis, silicon oxide (SiO₂) also occupies an important position, and the two together constitute the cornerstone of aluminum-silicon refractory materials. Among many refractory bricks, high-alumina bricks have become the leader in the industry with their unique advantages.

So, what kind of material is high-alumina brick? It is a carefully designed and manufactured refractory and high-temperature resistant material with a specific shape and size. From a chemical point of view, high-alumina bricks show neutral characteristics, which means that they are excellent in acid and alkali resistance. Even in high temperature environments, it can still remain stable and resist acid and alkali erosion. It is worth mentioning that the level of alumina content directly affects its corrosion resistance. The higher the content, the better the performance.

In addition, as a commonly used refractory material, the physical properties of high-alumina bricks, such as refractory temperature, high-temperature softening temperature, strength and porosity, are adjusted with the changes in its content and structural composition. This enables high-alumina bricks to adapt to different industrial environments and application needs, and become one of the indispensable materials in many fields.

In terms of appearance, high-alumina bricks also present diverse characteristics. Each manufacturer may have different colors of products due to different production processes and raw materials, such as yellow, off-white, beige, etc.

Alumina content of various grades of high alumina bricks

First-grade high alumina brick: alumina content ≥75%

Second-grade high alumina brick: alumina content ≥65%

Third-grade high alumina brick: alumina content ≥55%

Special-grade high alumina brick: alumina content ≥80%

Types of high alumina brick series

There are many types of high alumina bricks. According to the material, there are first, second and third-grade high alumina refractory bricks, anti-stripping high alumina bricks, low creep high alumina bricks, phosphate high alumina bricks, low pore high alumina bricks, wear-resistant high alumina bricks, etc. If we follow the specifications and sizes, we are common and commonly used, such as T3 standard bricks: 230*114*65mm, there are large blade and small blade high alumina bricks, large axe and small axe high alumina bricks, high alumina arch foot bricks, high alumina anchor bricks, high alumina hanging pieces, high alumina sleeve bricks for casting, flow steel high alumina bricks, plug high alumina bricks, pouring cup high alumina bricks, etc. Four square (cubic) high alumina bricks, five square (cubic) high alumina bricks, six square (cubic) high alumina bricks, seven square (cubic) high alumina bricks, eight square (cubic) high alumina bricks, nine square (cubic) high alumina bricks, ten square (cubic) high alumina bricks, eleven square (cubic) high alumina bricks, twelve square (cubic) high alumina bricks, two flat high alumina bricks, three flat high alumina bricks, four flat high alumina bricks, five flat high alumina bricks, five flat high alumina bricks, six flat high alumina bricks, seven flat high alumina bricks, eight flat high alumina bricks, two strip high alumina bricks, half a strip high alumina brick, two-piece high alumina bricks, customized special-shaped high alumina bricks, etc. According to the size classification, due to the performance and wide application advantages of high alumina bricks, brick types are very diverse and can also be customized according to the requirements of the furnace type.
