Recently, we received an inquiry from Sri Lankan customers regarding kiln bricks for their tunnel kiln. The customers sought our advice on kiln bricks and requested to purchase suitable ones.

tunnel kiln

The customer is a ceramics factory in southern Sri Lanka. Their tunnel kiln is used for continuous firing of daily-use ceramics, with an annual capacity of 15 million pieces. It is designed for local conditions using a mixture of natural gas and coal fuels, with a key focus on high-temperature stability and energy efficiency.

Based on the temperature differences between the preheating, firing, and cooling zones of the tunnel kiln, we precisely selected the appropriate kiln bricks and provided a suitable solution.

Clay bricks were chosen for the preheating zone due to their high cost-effectiveness and excellent thermal shock resistance. The firing zone (1200-1450℃) uses a combination of high-alumina bricks and corundum-mullite bricks to resist high-temperature erosion and material washout. Lightweight insulating kiln bricks were selected for the cooling zone to reduce heat loss and lower energy consumption.

After the project’s completion, the service life of the kiln bricks in the tunnel kiln reach over 3 years, extending it by 50% compared to existing local products. Kiln temperature uniformity improved, product qualification rate increases by 8%, and energy consumption decreased by 12%, perfectly meeting the client’s needs for large-scale continuous production. We will provide full technical guidance and construction supervision, resolving common problems in local bricklaying projects.
